Board ratifies 25-year easement with New York State for submerged water and sewer main

The Village of Green Island Board of Trustees voted to ratify a 25-year easement with the New York State Office of General Services covering a submerged water and sewer main that runs from Center Island across the Hudson River to the village wastewater treatment plant.
Phil Magg, speaking for village staff, described the action as time-sensitive and said the village had a limited window to return the paperwork. "So this was time sensitive. We only had 30 days from the time we received it to get it back in," Magg said. Magg told trustees the village had made no modifications to the line and could renew the easement without changes.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about whether the agreement covered water, sewer or both; staff confirmed it covers both a water and sewer main in the area between Center Island and Hudson Avenue. A motion to ratify the easement was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
