Board approves up to $20,000 consulting agreement to advise mental health crisis center start-up

Meghan Mohs offered to provide technical assistance to Nobles County and ElevaCare/New Life Treatment on tasks necessary for crisis-center start-up operations between February and August 2026. The board approved a professional-services agreement with Birch Bark Consulting, LLC for services not to exceed $20,000 (moved by Justin Ahlers; seconded by Bob Paplow).
The county said the consultant will advise on start-up operations required to open the center; the motion authorizes the agreement and a not-to-exceed amount but does not appropriate separate capital funds beyond the contract authorization.
