Nobles County staff and Stantec Engineer Joe Palen reported that available state and federal funds will not fully cover construction and long-term operation of Reading’s wastewater treatment facilities. The board voted to adopt Resolution 202608 requesting $2,750,000 in state bonding dollars to assist construction and sustainability of the system (moved by Gene Metz; seconded by Chris Dybevick).
County Administrator Bruce Heitkamp and the engineer said the figure addresses both construction and ongoing sustainability costs; the resolution formally requests the state bonding appropriation but does not guarantee award. Next steps depend on state bonding decisions and any matching requirements.
