Council gives first readings to four ordinances aligning town code with state law

Ordinance 2026-03 would remove the prohibition on firearms-related home-based businesses in the zoning code, and Ordinance 2026-04 makes multiple amendments to the animal code — removing references to a town animal shelter the town no longer operates and updating rules on licenses, vaccinations, impounding and traps.
Mayor Wallace performed the first readings; the minutes record the readings but do not show final votes on these ordinances during this meeting. The town attorney explained that the code changes are required to align with state law.
