Huachuca City will adopt online preapproved housing plan program to comply with SB1529

Staff presented two compliance options: A) hire architects to develop municipal plan sets the town would own, or B) create an online library and accept plan submissions for pre-review. "Staff recommends the latter approach (B) [establishing a program] as a less costly means of complying with the legislation," the staff report said. Dr. Jim Johnson walked through steps for Option B, including an online submission process, staff pre-review for code compliance and posting of compliant plan sets to a public library.
The council voted to begin the code changes needed to implement Option B and directed staff to proceed; the motion was moved by Johann Wallace, seconded by Cynthia Butterworth and passed unanimously. The minutes do not list an implementation schedule, nor do they specify a budget allocation for the work.
