Limerick Township recognizes retiring chief and swears in Lieutenant Patrick M. Roche as new police chief

The Limerick Township Board of Supervisors opened its meeting by recognizing the retirement of Chief Robert Badalas and thanking him for long service to the department. Chair (speaker 4) read a letter of endorsement into the record urging support for the promotion of the department's lieutenant.

"I really wanted to attend because I firmly believe that Pat is the greatest person on earth and I enthusiastically recommend him to serve as the Limerick Township's next chief of police," the Chair read from the submitted recommendation. The board also moved to approve a one‑month public safety specialist agreement for Bob Matlovich prior to the personnel transition; that motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.

After the personnel motions, the board welcomed Judge Welsh to administer the oath of office. The appointee repeated the oath and was congratulated by supervisors. The board described the appointment as an internal succession aimed at continuity of operations in the Police Department. No formal opposition to the appointments was recorded during the meeting.
