The Manistee County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt the 2026 Equalization Report and accompanying statements, establishing equalized real property values at $2,573,321,275 and personal property values at $132,531,900, for a combined total equalized value of $2,705,853,175. The resolution was offered by Richard Schmidt and seconded by Eric Gustad and adopted by recorded vote at the April 14 meeting.
The board authorized the Chairperson and Clerk to sign Forms L-4024 and L-4037 to formally accept and transmit the equalization data pursuant to Section 211.34 M.C.L., 1948. The minutes record the motion to accept the forms and the subsequent adoption of Resolution #2026-3; the vote was recorded as six yeas with one absence.
The Equalization Director, Heather Vasquez, presented the report to the board before the motion; the minutes include the department's statement that the report equalizes valuations across the county's 14 townships and one city.
