Astoria library renovation on track; temporary location to close in September, grand reopening Oct. 25

Library staff gave a progress report on the renovation, saying shelving is being installed, flooring and some bathroom fixtures are in place and that work is moving forward so the library can relocate from the temporary site.
Staff confirmed a plan to close the temporary library for the month of September to move materials and set up the new facility. "We're still on track to close the temporary library space for the month of September while we move everything over," a staff member said. The team said they expect to be able to open the book drop in September to ease returns and noted patrons may continue to use their cards at Seaside and Warrenton until the local facility reopens.
The board heard that the grand reopening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. Staff also described children's-area features, including a durable wallpaper mural and interactive educational panels for reading nooks.
