The Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission voted to approve the final plat for Eastfield Phase 2 in Milford, clearing the way for lot sales and building permits.
Commission director Matt Sandy told the board that Phase 1 of Eastfield is nearly built out and that town officials had signed off on roads, sewers and drainage for Phase 2. Tim Sailor, engineer with Innovative Communities and representative for the developer, said the developer had finished construction. "It's 100% complete at this point," Sailor said, adding the developer seeks final plat approval so it can begin selling lots and allow homes to be built.
Commissioners asked whether street drainage discharged to nearby Turkey Creek. Sailor replied, "So all the street drainage goes into a retention pond. It has no outlet to it." After brief discussion, a commissioner moved to accept Phase 2 of the Northfield subdivision and another seconded the motion. The commission approved the plat and staff will sign and deliver the plat to the developer.
The approval affects properties in the town of Milford and is intended to add housing capacity in the county. Staff said permits and any town-level inspections will proceed under local procedures.
