Hatcher said the Department of Corrections placed a physical fiscal note of nearly $400,000 on the bill but that CoreCivic — the private operator at Trousdale Turner — agreed to pay about $350,000 for the cameras and equipment for the pilot. Several senators supported the limited pilot as a way to evaluate benefits and costs; the committee voted 9–0 to advance the bill to Finance for further review.
