Emily Scholl told the CJCC that Buffalo County's jail population changes daily and that the county continues to house inmates in other counties. "Inmates are transitioning from the Trempealeau County Jail to the Pierce and Dunn County Jails," Scholl said.
The meeting materials include a current inmate listing (dated May 11, 2026) that records individual booking dates, charges, housing locations and court statuses for multiple detainees. Examples in the listing include charges for Jordan Deck (968.075—Domestic Abuse Incident; 940.235(1)—Strangulation and Suffocation; 940.3—False Imprisonment) and multiple, specified weapons and drug charges for Patrick Fox. The minutes note that Buffalo County continues to house inmates in other counties and documented which inmates are assigned to Trempealeau, Pierce or Dunn County facilities.
No formal action on inmate housing was taken at the May meeting; jail staff will continue to report population and housing placements at future meetings.
