The council approved a waiver of customary bidding procedures and authorized purchase of a specialized 2024 mechanics-body utility truck with a lifting room and equipment capacity for the sewer department at a cost of $166,613.
Staff described the vehicle as having a 30-foot room and the capacity to lift lift-station pumps and reach farther during service. "It's got a room on there for us to help lift station pumps out, help us reach out as far as we can," the director of public works said. Council members discussed budget implications but approved the purchase on roll call.
