CJCC members discuss offering Motivational Interviewing and YASI training across neighboring counties

At the May 19 meeting, Matt Roesler raised a proposal to offer training on Motivational Interviewing and the Youth Assessment and Screening Instrument (YASI) to staff in Buffalo, Pepin and Dunn Counties.
"Ms. Campbell Wood stated she would provide funding to hire an individual to conduct the training," the meeting record notes; Campbell Wood said she needs to discuss logistics with Mr. Roesler and Ms. Reggin and hopes to offer the training this year.
Danielle Schalinske cautioned that YASI youth-assessment training has "no direct connection to law enforcement" and said she would not encourage law-enforcement participation in that training.
The council did not formalize a training schedule or funding allocation at the May meeting; members signaled interest and said they would continue planning with identified trainers and partner jails.
