Wayne County approves Hoffman Foundation carryover and staff change in Historian’s Office

County Clerk Jessica Freer told the Government Operations Committee on April 9 that the county will carry over remaining 2025 funds from the Hoffman Foundation grant into the 2026 budget; the committee approved the transmittal 5-0. Freer also requested and received authorization to create a Senior Clerk Typist position and abolish a Clerk Typist position in the Historian’s Office, changes the committee approved unanimously.
Freer told the committee she is interested in expanding the Historian’s Office operating hours and that the proposed change would not result in additional county cost; the committee supported moving forward with that adjustment. The staffing change and grant carryover will be implemented through County Clerk office procedures and budget amendment.
