Wayne County prepares for Wallace Foundation visit and $1M–$2M award to support children’s services

Grants Coordinator Jay Roscup told the Government Operations Committee that Wallace Foundation representatives will visit Wayne County on May 12–13 to brainstorm uses for forthcoming funding. He said the award is "expected to begin in January 2027, starting at $1 million and increasing to $2 million the following year," and that county staff will work with local partners on planning and resource identification.
Roscup also reported that a new Children’s Funding Coordinator has begun work in Newark, has met village representatives, and plans a meeting with Supervisor Dawn Pisciotti to coordinate services and avoid duplication. He emphasized the goal of strengthening childcare supports, identifying service gaps, and building networks to attract more working families to the county.
