The board recognized Cherry Chase Elementary as a distinguished school during the Aug. 7 meeting, praising both academic results and community engagement.
District speakers said Cherry Chase recorded strong outcomes this year—"82 percent of Cherry Chase students scored above proficient in math and reading," staff said—and celebrated the school's enrichment programs, including art, music and a Lunar New Year celebration. Superintendent Crossley and trustees invited students, staff and families forward for recognition and photos. Board members commended the school's volunteers and teachers and called the recognition a community achievement.
The recognition was presented early in the meeting after trustees amended the agenda to move the item forward. No board action beyond the recognition was taken.
