Airport board hears update on fuel‑farm upgrades, inspections and fuel volumes

The Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport board received a status update on fuel-farm construction and current fuel flowage during its May 19 meeting.
Director Todd Chatfield told the board that "the epoxy coating has been applied to the 100LL tank," and that the contractor is now prefabbing piping for the filter vessel and new pump; a welder will complete connections. He said SkyWest must inspect the tank and the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality must certify the work because the project is considered major construction. Chatfield also said the airport will order only enough Jet A to keep one jet tank full while crews work on the other tank and that staff plans to paint the exteriors of all fuel tanks next year to remain in compliance.
The update followed the board's regular operations report, which included throughput and supplier data: Chatfield reported there were 564 passengers in April and that Thunder Basin Aviation received 19,951 gallons of Jet A in that month. The board discussed coordination requirements with airlines and state regulators before the tanks are returned to full service.
