O&M budget pressures could delay high school gym and band-room roof projects

Brandon Kriesch, who presented the facilities update, told the committee that increasing costs for labor, materials, and utilities are placing continued pressure on the district's operations and maintenance budget for fiscal year 2027.
"Increasing costs for labor, materials, and utilities continue to place pressure on the District’s O&M operating budget," the minutes state. Kriesch said the FY27 budget is being prioritized to address the most necessary or impactful projects and is currently projected to remain balanced with a small margin.
He noted that two potential projects—the high school gym roof and the middle school band room roof—were not included in the current budget outlook. Mr. Kriesch said he will obtain proposals from STA for both full roof replacement and repair options for each project and report the findings to the committee.
The committee discussed sequencing and whether to pursue repair versus full replacement depending on cost and urgency; no decisions about awarding contracts were recorded at the meeting.
