Commission extends Moab water-tank project deadline to 2030, authorizes administrative extensions

Andrew Jackson, Grand County planner, explained the ordinance amendment is not a rezone but corrects conditions in ordinance 7-25 that no longer reflected the project schedule or the county's code language. He recommended changing the completion date (previously 12/31/2025) and clarifying the development-agreement language to follow section 9.2 of the land-use code.
A motion to suspend the rules and adopt the amendment, including an extension of the completion date to 12/31/2030 and language permitting administrative extensions through the planning and zoning administrator, passed unanimously after discussion. The commission also authorized the chair to sign the required development agreement with Moab City once administrative conditions are met.
Commissioners noted the amendment preserves existing zoning and overlay boundaries while allowing the city additional time to secure funding and complete project approvals.
