Presiding Commissioner Joe Wilson said he attended a virtual meeting with Andrew Kujaribu, Project Delivery Manager with FEMA, to stay updated on federal financial assistance to Vernon County and its townships for damage from the May floods under Declaration DR-4885.
Wilson and Commissioner John Shorten placed follow-up calls to township officials, speaking with Matt Thron of Coal Township, Bo Phillips (Richland Township trustee), and Angie Daniels (Moundville Township clerk). The commissioners also contacted Dana Redburn, who has been assisting several townships with the FEMA process. No new funding decisions were reported at the meeting; commissioners said they will continue coordination with FEMA and township contacts to monitor the assistance timeline and paperwork associated with DR-4885.
The update was recorded as part of routine disaster-recovery oversight; commissioners did not take a formal vote on new commitments during the session.
