County signs FEMA-related certification and adopts community wildfire protection plan

Kirsten Hartley, Emergency Management staff, briefed the board on grant paperwork, training exercises and wildfire planning and asked commissioners to sign paperwork required by grant guidance.
Hartley told the Board the BRIC grant is available but timing is uncertain: "The BRIC grant is now available and there is no date on how long it will be open." She also reviewed recent FEMA policy changes regarding payments to foreign nationals and provided paperwork for the Board to sign to comply with subrecipient certification of foreign-national vetting requirements.
Commissioner Ben Crouch moved to sign the subrecipient certification; Commissioner Art Watkins seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Crouch then moved to adopt the community wildfire protection plan on behalf of Jerome County; Commissioner Charles M. Howell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Hartley also described a hazmat incident tabletop exercise she is developing and suggested moving training meetings to quarterly if exercises prove successful.
