Board authorizes interim FY2026 expenditures and approves consolidated district plan
Summary
The board approved a motion authorizing district expenditure of funds for fiscal year 2026 until the annual budget is adopted in conformity with the Illinois School Code, and approved the 2025–26 consolidated district plan submitted to ISBE covering Title programs and IDEA.
District staff explained the board-approved FY2026 budget will not be final until adoption in September; the board passed a motion authorizing the district office to expend funds for necessary start-of-year expenses until the annual budget is adopted under the Illinois School Code. "I need a motion that the board of education approve the school district's expenditure of funds to defray proper expenses... for fiscal year 20 26, until which time the annual budget of the district is adopted in conformity with applicable sections of the Illinois School Code," the chair read.
The board also approved the consolidated district plan for the 2025–26 school year, which staff said had been submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The consolidated plan covers Title I, Title II, Title IV, IDEA flow-through and EL programming; staff explained high-level uses such as reading supports, professional development braiding and special-education funding flows.
