Resident urges clarity on aerial spraying as commissioners approve Cheatgrass reimbursement

Lili Simpson, a local resident, told the Blaine County Board of Commissioners that updated Idaho Department of Fish and Game materials appeared to shift a proposed aerial spraying location from Rock Creek Ranch to private land and urged clearer public disclosure of spraying locations.
Staff later clarified that funds originally allocated under Resolution 2019-31 for a pronghorn migration study came in under budget and the Levy Board approved reallocating the remaining Land, Water and Wildlife levy funds to Cheatgrass treatment work. Land Use Director Rachel Martin presented an agreement to reimburse Idaho Fish and Game $24,441.67 for completed Cheatgrass treatments and the Board approved the payment.
"Earlier information referenced Rock Creek property, while updated materials suggest the activity may occur on private land in partnership with Pheasants Forever," Simpson said during public comment. The Board discussed appropriate use of levy funds for invasive-species management and confirmed the treatments have been completed and are eligible for reimbursement under the previously approved reallocation.
