Council tables proposed autism-certified playground additions after members request renderings and cost clarity

Staff asked council whether it wanted to include certified autism-center design elements for the Huddl Lake Park playground and add 102 days to the consultant's design schedule. Patricia Davis and Parks Director Jeff White said the certified elements would add sensory, motor and cognitive play components and that vendor renderings exist but were not included in the packet. Council members asked for before-and-after renderings, engineering estimates and clarification where any additional cost would be absorbed or which elements would be scaled back.
Council Member (motion) moved to table the item to the March 5 packet and asked staff to return with renderings and a clear cost/alternate-bid schedule; the motion passed 7-0. Jeff White reiterated the project remains in the allocated budget and that alternate bid items would be presented with construction-award paperwork if bids exceed the budgeted amount.
