Coats board defers annexation and rezoning for 1380 Abattoir Road

The Town of Coats Board of Commissioners on Oct. 9 voted to defer consideration of a voluntary noncontiguous annexation (Ordinance AN-33) and a companion rezoning request (RZ-25-01) for property at 1380 Abattoir Road owned by The Stephens Center, Inc.
Mayor Pro Tem Marc Powell moved to take the items off the table and place them between the consent agenda and public comment; the board then approved motions to defer both the annexation and the rezoning. The rezoning application covered roughly 80.73 acres and proposed rezoning from Agricultural (AG) to Single-Family Residential 3 (SFR-3) with a Traditional Neighborhood Development Overlay for a proposed 135-home Stewart's Creek subdivision.
Town officials said the items were deferred to allow for additional review and to ensure any future hearing is properly noticed. The motions to defer were seconded and approved unanimously.
