Town Manager Barbara Hollerand described the acceptance as an administrative action that begins the annexation process; she clarified that any subsequent rezoning would be considered separately. Mayor Pro Tem Marc Powell asked whether annexation would be contingent on a builder; Hollerand said the annexation approval and rezoning would be separate actions.
The board approved the acceptance of the petition unanimously and scheduled subsequent steps, including a public hearing for zoning matters if and when applicants seek rezoning.
