Hononegah committee advances 2026 summer school plan with two short sessions and reduced budget

The Hononegah Community High School Education Committee reviewed a proposed 2026 summer school program that would run two sessions, June 1–25 and June 29–July 28, with daily hours from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Kathy Eckmann, who presented the proposal to the committee, said the curriculum will mix credit recovery and enrichment in core subjects and include Driver Education.
Eckmann told committee members that enrollment is projected at "150–200 students" and that the district expects a reduced budget from the prior year; she also noted that Intro to Manufacturing is canceled for 2026 because of staffing constraints. The committee voted to forward the proposal to the full Board for final approval in March.
