Resident raises concerns about East Court Street properties, bike lanes and downtown sidewalks

During the public-comment portion of the Aug. 3 meeting, Michael Wazinski asked the committee to pay attention to three downtown properties on East Court Street and to sidewalk and bike-lane conditions in the 1st and 2nd wards.
Wazinski told the committee that a fence has been visible around a building at 609 East Court Street since June 2025 in Google Maps imagery and that a social-media post about those properties has attracted nearly 40,000 views. He said the property has been discussed online as a potential Raising Cane's site or a children's museum and that he planned to reach out to a local contact about nonprofit interest.
Wazinski also praised the Skyler bike lanes from a rider's perspective and urged residents to use them, but he emphasized that sidewalk conditions are inconsistent and sometimes hazardous — citing Station Street near Napa and sections of Court Street near a building that previously housed a pawn shop. "Station Street is definitely bad by Napa," he said.
The chair acknowledged the comment and moved the meeting to the roll-call portion of the agenda.
