The Lindstrom City Council voted to adopt the 2025 Truth in Taxation levy after a staff presentation that laid out department budgets and revenue assumptions. Finance staff said the proposed general fund levy for 2025 would fund police, fire, public works and recreation services and highlighted the proposed levy figure.
“The proposed general fund levy is $3,000,004.99 71,” Finance staff stated during the presentation. Council discussion briefly touched on service priorities and the balance between maintaining services and limiting taxpayer burden. After a motion to accept the resolution was made and seconded, the mayor called the vote; the action carried on what the mayor described as a 4 to 1 vote in favor.
The presenter explained revenue sources that support the levy, including property taxes (the largest share), intergovernmental aid and charges for services, and noted the city has set aside local government aid for future capital equipment needs. Councilmembers who voted in favor said the levy funds essential services and capital needs; the dissenting vote was recorded but not elaborated on in the meeting minutes. The council will forward the adopted levy to Chisago County for collection in 2025.
