Village approves $945,225 Arthur Court reconstruction, awards engineering services

The Bensenville Village Board approved contracts to rebuild Arthur Court and to provide on-site construction engineering at its March 25 meeting.
Staff described the work as full reconstruction of the roughly 750-foot street from Church Road east to the dead end, including replacement of street lighting infrastructure, storm sewer improvements, new roadway subbase and concrete roadway, curbs, driveway aprons, ADA-compliant sidewalks and turf restoration. "This street was given a pavement condition index score of 16," the staff presenter said, saying the score indicates the roadway has reached its useful life and requires the improvements.
The board approved a construction engineering services agreement with Civil Tech Engineering Inc. for a not-to-exceed amount of $99,396. Staff said Civil Tech previously provided oversight on a similar project and recommended awarding the contract. The board approved the motion by roll call vote (six yes).
For the construction portion, staff reported eight bidders and recommended awarding the work to Everlast Blacktop of Elgin, which submitted the lowest responsible bid of $945,225.87. "Everlast Blacktop submitted the lowest responsible bid at $945,225.87 to perform the general scope of work," staff said. The board approved the construction contract by roll call (six yes).
The contracts together launch the Arthur Court residential streets improvement project; staff noted on-site inspections, material testing and record-drawing production as part of the engineering oversight. The presentation did not include a construction start date or a project completion timeline.
