Commissioner Grund says Minneapolis EMS funded by county contributions, urges caution on double taxation

During commissioners' comments June 30, Commissioner Carla Grund reported she had conferred with Barry Hodges, City of Minneapolis administrator, and described how Minneapolis EMS is funded.
"The City does not fund Minneapolis EMS with ad valorem dollars," Grund said, adding that Minneapolis EMS revenues come from county contributions to the city and medical billings. Grund said the city provides facilities for EMS, including garages.
Grund also reported contacting Clay and Morris counties regarding approval of a resolution on swine facilities; she said one county adopted a resolution and the other did not. She mentioned discussions on the hospital budget, KCAMP and ongoing work by the county sanitarian.
