Advisory board recommends names for Trails 15–23 to send to council

After an extended mapping and naming exercise, the Castle Pines Parks & Recreation Advisory Board approved a package of recommended names for Trails 15–23 and moved to forward the list to City Council for final approval.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board spent a substantial portion of its Feb. 19 meeting reviewing maps and proposing names for Trails 15 through 23 on the city’s west side of I‑25. Staff walked the board through the map, and members and residents suggested names that reflected local geography and existing neighborhood references.
Board members discussed individual routes by number and debated safety, continuity with existing trail names, and maintenance implications. Proposed names discussed and ultimately bundled in the board’s motion included Twisted Oak Crossing (Trail 15), Coyote Hill Climb (Trail 16), Serena Trail/Serena Spur variants (Trails 17–18), Tallgrass Slope (Trail 19), Happy Creek Crossing (Trail 20), Retreat Fork (Trail 21), Glen Ridge (Trail 22), and Gamble Oak (Trail 23). One board member moved to recommend the package to City Council; another seconded and the motion passed with all members present voting to approve the recommendation.
The recommendation package is advisory; City Council will receive the board’s suggested list alongside staff maps and may adopt, modify or return the list for further refinement. The board asked staff to confirm spellings and finalize the packet for council submission.
