Council approves Fall Fest and Thanksgiving Day Run permits; YMCA event pending MDOT road closure approval

Council approved the 3rd Annual Niles Fall Festival for Oct. 25, 2025 and the 44th Annual Niles-Buchanan YMCA Thanksgiving Day Run and Walk for Nov. 27, 2025 (the latter pending MDOT road-closure approval); one councilmember voted against Fall Fest approval.
Council approved a request from the Niles DDA Main Street to hold the 3rd Annual Niles Fall Festival on Oct. 25, 2025. Councilmember Timothy Rogers moved and Councilmember Jessica Nelson seconded the motion; roll call showed one no vote from Councilmember Michael Thompson and the motion carried.
Separately, the council approved the Niles-Buchanan YMCA’s request to hold the 44th Annual Thanksgiving Day Run and Walk on Nov. 27, 2025, with the approval contingent on MDOT approval for road closures. Councilmember Rogers moved and Councilmember Georgia Boggs seconded that motion; the roll-call vote recorded Thompson as the lone no vote on the event item as well.
Council minutes show the city will coordinate with MDOT for the Thanksgiving run’s road-closure approvals and the DDA will proceed with Fall Fest planning.
