Council approves resolution to order 215th Street industrial roadway and utility improvements

The Lakeville City Council voted to order plans and specifications for the 215th Street industrial roadway and utility improvement project, city project 26‑09, after a public hearing and staff presentation. City Engineer Johnson described the project scope — building 215th Street as an industrial roadway, extending sanitary sewer and water west of County Road 70, and using drilling under I‑35 to reduce disruption — and gave a total project estimate of about $8,268,000. "Total project cost at this point is estimated at 8,268,000," Johnson said during the presentation.

Johnson said financing would rely on special assessments for benefiting properties (street assessed at 100% and utilities at 100%), with trunk funds covering oversizing or capacity-driven portions. Estimated assessment amounts from the feasibility report included about $300 for street, $20 for storm sewer, $100 for sanitary sewer and about $115 for water per assessed frontage unit; final assessments will be computed after bids. Council moved to order the improvements and authorized preparation of plans and specifications; a roll-call vote recorded ayes consistent with council members present and the resolution passed.
