Council hears plan to rebuild 295th and Ackerson, citing drainage fixes and new water main

City engineer Brian Bachmeier presented the 2025 Street Improvement Project to the Lindstrom City Council, describing work on two state-aid corridors: 295th Street (Olinda to Neil Avenue) and Ackerson (Highway 8 to the Newlander intersection). He said the project would replace aging pavement, install curb-and-gutter to improve drainage and reduce ditch maintenance, and add a water main on Ackerson to remove a long dead end and improve fire flows.
"The estimated total project cost is $2,780,035," Bachmeier told the council, laying out funding sources that include state-aid, city reserves, storm-sewer and water funds. He said the city plans to advertise for bids in April and aim for substantial completion by September, and that cross-sections call for a 30-foot street and parking restrictions near the cemetery to protect sightlines and the cemetery fence. Bachmeier also said the city evaluated sidewalk placement and potential retaining walls near DNR property at the boat launch.
