County Manager Snead told commissioners the school allocation in the budget is $9.75 million plus $100,000 dedicated to athletics. Vice Chair O'Neal asked that the $100,000 be used to redo the county tennis courts for the upcoming season and that any leftover funds be applied to regular school athletics.
The manager said the quoted cost for the tennis-court work was "close to $100,000" and suggested the commissioners could approve the ordinance and use a future budget amendment if there were remaining funds. The adopted budget includes the $9.75 million school allocation and the $100,000 athletic designation as motions on the floor were approved.
