The Tuscaloosa City Schools board approved the superintendent's recommended personnel changes at its Aug. 4 meeting.
Ms. Scott presented the recommendations for final adoption, listing a range of personnel actions including a declination, multiple new certified and classified hires, transfers, resignations, stipends and supplemental positions. She told the board she was "presenting the superintendent's recommendations regarding changes in personnel." Among the items Ms. Scott listed were a Northridge Middle athletic supplement and "33 part time extended day tutors."
After a brief call for set-asides and discussion, board members moved and seconded approval. The chair called for a voice vote; members voted 'Aye' and no opposition was recorded. One board member commented on the district's ability to replace departing staff with strong candidates, saying, "The mark of a good system is when you lose somebody and can replace them with someone as top notch as number 5." The board approved the full list as presented.
The personnel items (item 10A) included specific supplemental and stipend line items and multiple new hires; the board did not set aside any individual items for separate votes.
