City staff to review electronic fob system, temporary gate closure at Montclair Transit Center

"I will certainly explore the issue in-depth," Starr said, adding that code enforcement has been concentrating at the Trans Center. Starr noted the gate had been intended as an electronic, access-driven unit and that staff will discuss retrofitting with the vendor.
Later in the meeting staff reiterated that the city received some federal community-facilities funds related to transit improvements and proposed that any fob/card program require users to register to gain access. Staff emphasized the need to balance resident access with security and noted temporary inconvenience to other residents who use the gate as a route to Arrow Highway.
The council did not schedule a formal vote or adopt a specific funding appropriation during the meeting; staff committed to return with options after consulting property management and the vendor.
