Committee approves multiple public‑safety grants totaling several hundred thousand dollars

"The total amount of that grant is $374,199," Richards said while describing a first‑year grant that would fund two drug prosecutors and two administrative positions; he added the grant carries a 10% match ($37,419) and that after three years the positions would be absorbed by state funding. Richards also described a second‑year DUI prosecutor grant for $130,067 and a counselor/intervention grant for $209,459.
Separately, the county chief presented five grant items — including a continuation Public Safety Justice grant that the chief described as a $127,000 award with a $14,000 cash match (totaling $141,007.29) to continue a narcotics death investigator position — and the committee approved grants 1–5 in a single motion.
Committee members recorded no dissent on the record. The grants as presented were described as having no ongoing county cost beyond required matches where noted; several of the positions were said to be eligible for future state absorption.
