Mark Traum, Street Foreman, presented the Streets Committee update at the Jan. 13 Mount Carroll City Council meeting, outlining budget review and equipment needs. Traum said the department has been soliciting bids for a new park lawn mower, and that a bid was received late in the day. He reported a bid from Dan’s Overhead Doors and More to replace an overhead door at the street department for $4,148.91 and estimated a side-door replacement at about $600; the committee recommended purchase of both doors and the council subsequently approved those expenditures by roll call.
Traum also said measured streets need seal coating and that bids will be sought now that the county no longer offers the service. He told the council he and Chief Metzger discussed snow-emergency parking and recommended a snow emergency ordinance. Traum asked Alderman Amy Buss to refer the idea to the License and Ordinance Committee; Alderman Buss announced that committee’s meeting is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
