Council adopts ordinance banning commercial vehicle parking in residential areas

The Mount Carroll City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 2026-01-06 on Jan. 13, 2026, amending Title 8, Chapter 5, Section 8-5-5 of the city code to prohibit commercial vehicles from parking in residential areas. Alderman Jeff Elliott moved to approve the ordinance and Alderman Paul Kaczmarski seconded; the roll call vote was 6–0 in favor.
Council members said the ordinance is intended to address neighborhood quality-of-life concerns caused by commercial vehicle parking. The vote was recorded with Mayor Carl Bates and Aldermen Doug Bergren, Amy Buss, Jeff Elliott, Paul Kaczmarski, Jeff Soenksen and Jody Wolber all voting yes. The ordinance passed at the Jan. 13 meeting and will be codified in the Mount Carroll municipal code.
