Castle Pines council approves names for 15 trail segments, moves forward on wayfinding

Parks and Open Space Director Marcus Graves presented a proposal to name 15 trail segments across the west side of the city, citing wayfinding, connectivity and emergency-response benefits. "Does city council support the names for the 15 identified trail segments located in the city of Castle Pines?" Graves asked, and he reviewed proposed names such as Serena Trail, Coyote Hill Climb, Briar Oak Path, Glenridge Tributary Path, Happy Creek Crossing, Crooked Prairie Loop and Elkridge Run.
Council members praised the creativity of the names and asked practical questions about signage and trail-mile counts. Marcus Graves said the city previously adopted a gateway wayfinding package and staff will refine signage to the trail level. A motion to approve Resolution 26-19 passed on a roll call vote; council members indicated support and staff said they will return with detailed signage recommendations and mileage counts.
