County commissioner flags $100M in state housing funds; local asphalt pit projected to open in 18 months

Uintah County Commissioner Willis Lefevre told the Ballard City Council on July 21 that the Community Impact Board (CIB) is moving to the Department of Housing and that roughly $100 million in upcoming state funding is expected for low- and moderate-income housing projects. He said program details and availability have not yet been formally announced.
Lefevre also described a Vernal-area refinery/asphalt pit projected to be operational within about 18 months, initially handling roughly 80 truckloads with possible future expansion to approximately 250 truckloads. He noted that the project could reduce highway traffic pressures but will require continued coordination with UDOT on impacts to U.S. Highway 40 and Seabridge Road.
