Beecher CUSD 200U board adopts FY26 budget, flags boilers, windows and buses as priorities

Following a public hearing, the Beecher CUSD 200U board voted to adopt the fiscal year 2026 budget at its Sept. 10 meeting. Dr. Gayham presented the budget overview, telling the board the district moved "from deficit spending" to running surpluses in recent years and showing revenue and expenditure projections for FY26.
In the presentation, Dr. Gayham itemized three large potential expenditures he had earmarked: up to about $100,000 for junior-high boilers, approximately $215,000 from life/safety funds to replace windows, and the planned purchase of one large bus plus two transportation vans to begin replacing an aging fleet (the current vans have nearly 200,000 miles). The treasurer's report showed a balance-of-all-funds of about $11,504,006.00 as of Aug. 31; Dr. Gayham noted the district's reserves equate to roughly 3.2 to 3.9 years of EBF depending on assumptions. The board carried the budget adoption by roll call.
