Residents raise construction-hours, security-camera and lighting complaints during Alsip public forum

During the public forum three residents described separate issues they asked the village to address.

Kevin Pickar (11235 Avon Ave.) said a construction site repeatedly works late, blocks driveways and leaves standing water at the street. "They work till whenever they feel like it in the evening…They gotta quit blocking the road so much," he said, asking the village to enforce the rules and consider a stop-work sticker until the contractor corrects the problems. Mayor Ryan said he was not previously aware and would speak to staff and the project contacts the next day.

Don Jones (11335 S. Avon) reported building-material theft at 11300 South Le Claire and said the contractor installed a 360‑degree security camera on a utility pole across the street. "They did not install it on their own property. They installed it across the street on Avon on the utility pole," Jones said, and asked whether the village approved the camera and how property addresses and driveway orientations for three houses had been approved. Mayor Ryan said he would check with building, IT and the engineer.

Fred Eberhard (3833 W. 120th Place) said new lights at Alsip Plaza glare into his 96‑year‑old mother's yard, lighting it "like a ball field," and requested dimmers or deflectors. Mayor Ryan said the electrical inspector and building staff would investigate and confirmed the village would follow up.

All three complaints were presented as public comments; trustees did not take immediate formal action but the mayor said staff would investigate the reported violations and return with findings.
