Niles OKs $20,933 leaf-vacuum parts, $31,825 trailer and emergency crane repairs

The Niles City Council on Aug. 11, 2025 approved multiple Department of Public Works purchases and an emergency repair. Council approved accepting a quote from Best Equipment Co. of Westland, MI for $20,933.40 to purchase leaf vacuum parts and charged the expense to the DPW Operating Supplies budget.
The council also authorized purchasing a heavy-duty equipment trailer from AIS Construction Equipment Corporation of Grand Rapids, MI for $31,825.00 to be charged to the DPW Vehicle Capital Equipment Outlay Account. Separately, the council authorized an emergency purchase from Hoosier Crane Service Company of Elkhart, IN for $5,320.60 to repair an overhead crane at the street department; that expense was charged to the Building Repairs and Maintenance Account.
All motions passed on roll-call votes as recorded in the meeting minutes.
