The Village of Metamora approved two fire-department purchases tied to a small equipment grant awarded last year.
Fire Chief Mike Sluga reported a nearly $13,000 small equipment grant had been awarded and presented quotes for Rit Paks; the cost had increased by $1,357 plus shipping since the fall 2025 application. Trustee Fred Glueck moved to purchase Rit Paks not to exceed $15,000; Trustee Eric Schierer seconded and the vote was 6–0 in favor. The board also approved replacement air bottles not to exceed $8,000 after Chief Sluga said the bottles were damaged in a training exercise and he had contacted organizers seeking reimbursement.
Officials agreed to wait for digital Docusign paperwork related to the grant reimbursement before the purchase is finalized.
