Trustee raises runoff concern after gravel drive installed by solar company caused pooling on leased farmland

Trustee Weyeneth told trustees that, following recent rain, pooling formed on farmland within a 135‑acre parcel leased by a farmer; he said the pooling resulted from a gravel drive installed by a solar company. Weyeneth said the farmer trenched the drive to drain the water and will not charge for labor but expects reimbursement for supplies. "He shared that the farmer that leases the property fixed the issue by trenching through the gravel drive and the water drained. He stated that the farmer will not be charging for labor but would like supplies reimbursed," the minutes record.

Attorney Brunton said the village should consider whether a culvert under the gravel road is necessary and said the solar company needs to address the issue. Merle reported follow‑up contact with the solar company had been made but no substantive resolution had been received as of the April 7 meeting. Trustees did not take formal action but flagged the matter for follow up and possible remediation by the solar company.
