Members discussed whether the city should actively market the former fire hall for sale or reuse, or continue the current reactive strategy of showing it to prospects. Multiple members argued the building should not remain long‑term storage and that, if market conditions are favorable, the city should pursue a commercial listing with a broker who has broader contacts.
Dan said the current listing agreement for Oak Street was short term and that he could prepare a commercial listing agreement for the fire hall and add that task to the EDA work plan for Q1 2025. He noted preferred end uses remain restaurant, distillery or brewery oriented to enliven downtown. Several members supported moving toward a proactive market approach rather than keeping the building in long‑term storage.
