Board approves purchase of ~46 acres at The Pointe for southern Salt Lake Valley clinical campus

The board approved the purchase of roughly 46 acres of land known as The Pointe for future clinical and procedural use by the University of Utah health system, after a presentation by Bob Harder, executive vice president for health sciences. Harder said valuation studies support an acquisition price of approximately $43,500,000 and that the site will expand access to care for the southern Salt Lake Valley.
Harder framed the acquisition as part of a multi-site regional campus strategy that complements the Vineyard and West Valley initiatives. Trustees moved and approved the acquisition at the meeting.
"We've had valuation studies done on this property... which is at the site of the former prison... It's known as The Pointe. It's a 43 point set or or roughly $43,500,000 acquisition price," Harder said while summarizing the proposal.
